Job purpose

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for overseeing and managing the HR Representative team to ensure the efficient execution of daily HR operations. This includes monitoring employee attendance, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements, maintaining accurate records, and upholding the accuracy and integrity of the HRIS systems. The HR Business Partner provides coaching, guidance, and mentorship to the team, fosters professional growth, and ensures the effective management of HR documentation, employee coverage, and safety protocols.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Oversee and manage the HR Representative team, ensuring they are effectively supporting daily HR operations.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to HR Representatives, fostering professional growth and team development.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and employment laws.
  • Supervise the timely and accurate enrollment of employees in the HRIS, ensuring all relevant employee information is up to date and properly recorded.
  • Oversee the integrity and accuracy of the HRIS system, ensuring that all employee information is properly recorded and regularly updated, and that the system is consistently aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitor and oversee the HR Representative team’s work in managing time and attendance in the HRIS, ensuring accurate tracking of employee hours and timely approval of timecards.
  • Oversee the monitoring and recording of employee attendance, ensuring the team tracks workforce participation accurately and promptly addresses any attendance-related concerns.
  • Supervise and coordinate the arrangement of employee coverage, ensuring the HR Representative team utilizes staffing agency support as necessary.
  • Ensure all documentation related to employee attendance and performance is processed effectively and communicated in a timely and clear manner.
  • Manage daily updates to the Crew List, ensuring it reflects accurate employee assignments, roles, shifts, and changes in staffing or coverage.
  • Ensure the HR Representative team effectively utilizes various HR forms and processes for HR documentation.
  • Enforce company safety protocols and policies consistently, ensuring a secure and compliant work environment.
  • Supervise the reporting of workplace incidents and ensure the HR Representative team completes all necessary documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to WSIB policies and manage compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Oversee the regular updates of trackers for employees on leave of absence (LOA), maternity/paternity leave, and temporary associates, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Handle job abandonment cases, ensuring that all relevant documentation is properly prepared and aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Prepare and issue layoff letters, ensuring compliance with company procedures and adherence to employment laws and regulations.
  • Supervise communication between departments, ensuring effective and timely exchanges of relevant HR information within the team and with other departments.
  • Responsible for daily management and support for the HR Rep team to achieve operational success.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.
  • Issue disciplinary action when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources Management preferred.
  • Good understanding knowledge of human resources principles, best practices and applicable HR legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Customer service attitude.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
